  1. Pat, I am a fast Typer but with the iPad, I can type quicker using one hand. Next time I am home, I can show you how to make it work.

  2. Mr. Bowes,
It’s Audrey Nguyen. I don’t know if you remember me, but I certainly remember you and your class. I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years. And I can’t believe that it’s taken me so long to try to work up the courage to write this. I’ve read through all your posts so far, and I am in awe of you and your strength. Your voice is still alive and present in these words you’ve written.
I hope this new year brings all the best to you!

    • Hi Audrey,
Thank you for your kind note. Yes, of course I remember you and I hope you are doing well. Wow, it sure doesn’t seem like 10 years, but it’s been a rough decade. Hopefully, it’s been a wonderful decade for you. Where did you go to college and what are you doing? I hope everyone appreciates what we studied and its relevance to a national debate today. Thank you for writing and I hope you are well.

  3. Mr. Bowes,
My name is Alex Williams. You were my A.P.T. teacher in elementary school. Over the years, I’ve told many a person that you are one of the best things that ever happened to me. I meant it every time. I can’t speak for everyone but im sure theyd agree. Your passion for teaching us was exactly what i needed. I truely believe my life would be a lot different if it wasn’t for such a great mentor!
Though I’ve visited a couple times since middle school, I have always kept you in mind and in heart. I was saddened to hear about your battles with cancer. Your voice was not just a gift and a blessing to you, but to everyone who got the chance to hear it. You are a special person! I hope you can continue to make progress with communications. You have a lot to offer this world full of idiots. ☺ I also hope that you never forget the number of lives you touched and in my case, changed. You are a hero, role model and an idol. Keep your faith!
    Thank you for everything!!!

    • Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your kind note and words of encouragement. You were an absolute joy to teach and I loved your sense of humor. In addition to your intellect and excellent comments in our literature discussions and debates, I will never forget you dancing to “Heard it Through the Grapevine” when I played that during our unit on the 1950’s. If you get a chance please stay in touch and let me know how things are going, what career path you chose, and other life experiences you have had on your personal journey. Thank you so much for writing, Alex.
